Downloading and Installing

Before downloading, note that Gui-FTP requires an Amiga running Kickstart 2.04+, AmiTCP 3.0b2 (or compatible TCP stack) and a screen display at least 640x256. If using a screen less than 400 pixels in height the default screen font should be no more than 8 pixels high.

If you have ReqTools installed Gui-FTP will use it to display requesters and for the file requester. ReqTools is not required and is not provided in the archive. It can be obtained from Aminet as /util/libs/ReqToolUsr.lha.

To download and install Gui-FTP:

  1. Download the archive from your nearest site in the list, below. You may need to set the option "Download to disk" before clicking on the link.

  2. Unpack the archive with lha:
  3. lha -a x Gui-FTP.lha

The option '-a' is important, some files in the archive have the script bit set, this option ensures that this bit is preserved on the extracted files. If not preserved, some parts of Gui-FTP may not function correctly, notably the filters feature. After executing this command, a directory called 'Gui-FTP' is created, you can move this anywhere you like.

  4. Open the Gui-FTP directory and rename one of the 'Gui-FTP_#?' files to 'Gui-FTP'. Rename whichever is appropriate for your system. Versions of the program are provided for 68000, 68020 and 68030 with and without a 68882 FPU and for 68040 systems.

  5. Move the directory 'xen' and 'xen.font' into FONTS:. Skip this step if this font is already installed on your system or if you will not be using it.

  6. Move 'EAGUI.library' into LIBS:

  7. If you don't already have an assign for "AmiTCP:"
  8. Assign AmiTCP: <wherever>

Replace "<wherever>" with the location of AmiTCP or where you would like the log file written.

  9. Configure the tooltypes on the programs icon for your particular system.
